Monster Hunter Wilds — How to Catch a Sandstar

Monster Hunter Wilds — How to Catch a Sandstar

Do you need help finishing up the researchers’ endemic life side quests in Monster Hunter Wilds? Well, you’ve come to the right place! This is a quick guide on how you can capture a Sandstar for the “Samin’s Special Research Report” sidequest.

It should be a relatively simple affair to capture one if you know where to look. To capture a Sandstar for the final endemic research sidequest, bring Screamer Pods and set the conditions to Night and Fallow or Plenty in the Windward Plains.  If you’re short on Screamer Pods, you can grab some from the Baunos (small flying wyverns) at Area 11 and 13.

You can find it in the dunes of Area 13. It’s a blue glowing mouse, so it won't be too hard to spot. If you can’t find it, set up a Pop-up camp by the oasis and rest there for easy resets. Once you find it, you need to act fast. Sneaking up on it, even with a Ghillie Mantle equipped, won’t work. As soon as it notices you, it will run away, so chase it on your Seikret and stun it with a Screamer Pod before you go in for the capture.

It is roughly around the area circled in the image.

And that’s about it. Enjoy completing a side quest chain and the nice little achievement/trophy you can put up in your Hunter Profile. Nothing feels better than an empty quest log, doesn’t it? Happy hunting and may the desire sensor not screw you over!
