Cornerball - Tap to turn Review
Every so often, we come across an endless game. The Impossible Game, Geometry Dash, and Cornerball can add itself to the list of games that we can play over and over until we’re so frustrated that we rage quit and go cry in a corner. Thanks, Simadev!
Cornerball is a delightful game, despite what I said earlier. Games such as this are designed to be a memory game and get more and more challenging as you go. It largely depends on your brainpower as to how well you’ll play, and due to my stress levels as of late, I wasn’t able to get too far, but I did have fun! What’s the goal? It’s a bit of a puzzle, lead the ball down the narrow corridors, and don’t let it fall. If it falls, you start over, simple as that. No lives, no bells, no whistles.
Playing is simple. There’s a ball on a platform and you simply tap to start. The ball will then bounce between two different barriers as your next task shows up, and you go from there. There will be occasional ads after deaths and, to help the dev, there is a button to press on the homescreen to watch more ads. Other than that there isn’t a whole lot more to the game such as coins or things to buy. Very minimalist.
Due to the minimalist style of the game, there isn’t a whole lot to write about. The art style is very peaceful and reminds me a bit of Journey by Thatgamecompany and Monument Valley by ustwo games limited. A lot of pastels and simple 3-D shapes. This game can get stressful due to the fact that it does rely on being able to click the screen at the right time to get the ball to follow the correct path and not fall, but the colors and style somehow keep it from feeling too bad. Not to the level of Geometry Dash at least.
I never wanted to throw my phone playing Cornerball but I could see that being a possibility depending on how long the title was played. Patience is a virtue here and that’s not something many of us always have. It loads quickly and is extremely easy to get into. All in all, it’s a nice game, available on Android devices.
This game is good, with a few negatives.
A simple, minimalist game with a nice, calming 3-D art style. Can get frustrating at times, but all in all, a little patience can go a long way. Or just stare at the pretty colors and the bouncing ball. That’s good too!
