505 Games is Giving Away Blades of Fire... But There's a Hyper-Specific Catch
Developers of the 2014 Castlevania title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD, MercurySteam, have been working on their own IP, separate from KONAMI, for a while. Partnering up with publisher 505 Games, the team has revealed their newest IP: soulslike Blades of Fire.
If you haven't seen much of this, we wouldn't really blame you. Coming out as an Epic Games Exclusive on PC and via console on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, its marketing has been outside the usual Steam marketing behemoth many have grown accustomed to.
Blades of Fire is already available for pre-order, letting players nab their early copy to take control of Aran de Lira to forge the weapons you'll take into battle. In the boom of the soulslike genre, with many competitors already released during 2025, those who have managed to finish the other soulslikes might be looking for their next venture, and there's a chance to get a free copy... but there's a very specific requirement.
MercurySteam and 505 Games are excited to give keys of the platform of choice to those who will be attending London Comic Con on the 23rd of May, just a day after release. Your free pick of platform comes with a hefty requirement that far too many might not really be able to meet: you'll need to be celebrating your "Steel Wedding Anniversary".
If you're looking to get your hands on Blades of Fire for free from the team over at London Comic Con on the 23rd of May, you'll also need to come with a copy or photo of a wedding certificate showing you were married on the 22nd of May, 2014. Only then will you actually be able to get your free key from the team, and only then will you not send a message to the team (at least not according to the press release), as it'll have to be in person.
Blades of Fire will be released on the 22nd of May 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
