Beloved 1990s Anime Samurai Pizza Cats is Back in New Form to Celebrate Anniversary
In celebration of the 35th anniversary for the anime Samurai Pizza Cats, the team is bringing it back... but in a new form. Enter Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past, a brand-new videogame adaptation of the anime, and you can check out the reveal trailer right away!
Developed by BLAST ZERO and published by Red Dunes Games, this 1990s anime is back on a new platform. It aired originally in Japan on the 1st of February 1990, as watchers enjoyed the show set in Edoropolis, filled with mechanical anthropomorphic animals. Now, with Blast from the Past, players will be able to embark on a brand-new journey!
The action platformer title shown off in the trailer confirms something exciting for fans: the original voice cast from both the English and Japanese versions will be returning to help bring this videogame to life. The trailer lets fans watch an old-school animated segment with the nostalgic 4:3 ratio before the gameplay reveal makes its way and shows off its graphics.
The gameplay brings back the charm from the original anime, as players will take control of the iconic characters and switch between them in tag-team action. Use their numerous unique abilities to solve puzzles and traverse the worlds, creating unique combat variations of attacks. You'll also be able to embark on the adventure either solo or with others in shared and split-screen co-op.
Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past! is receiving a release on all "major platforms", but the release date is yet to be announced.
