Besiege Celebrates 10-year Anniversary with Community-focused Update
It's been 10 years since Spiderling Studios released their physics-based building game Besiege. Despite its age, the title still receives all-time peaks of a few hundred players every day, and it still receives updates to this day, with the latest one dropping for its anniversary.
To celebrate the 10-year anniversary, Spiderling Studios is sharing a community-focused update launching today to honour the community's creativity and ingenuity, bringing highly requested features to the title. The anniversary update comes with new content, technical advancements, and some reworks (and nostalgia) to bring players back to the original release in 2015.
The key highlights for the update are the following:
- Steam Trading Cards are joining, which will bring with it a slew of emotes, backgrounds, and badges for players to take to their Steam profiles and chats
- The original sandbox released during the Early Access states is back and remastered, giving players the opportunity to continue experimenting with modern mechanics in the classic environment
- A new scoreboard system to compete against other players and yourself, featuring new ways to track stats based on your builds
- New achievements and campaign content
- The rulers from each of the campaign islands now exist in the game, as they'll fight alongside their armies in defence of their kingdoms, adding new, unique styles to the campaign conquests
- Return to the original version of Besiege to enjoy the humble beginnings of the title with the official Beta version from the 2015 Early Access release
- Automatic timescale adjustment for whenever Besiege runs heavy on hardware, where instead of experiencing frame-rate drops and stutters, the game will automatically enable slow motion, giving you a better view of the battlefield
The new-and-old anniversary update for Besiege is officially out now to celebrate the game's 10-year anniversary from its original Early Access release. You can download it and either start the Early Access beta or enjoy the new features now!
