Black Myth: Wukong Prologue in Super Ultrawide Resolution (32:9)

2024's surprise Black Myth: Wukong hit Steam like a truck, accruing impressive concurrent player counts. Sitting at Overwhelmingly Positive score with a staggering 800,000 reviews, Game Science is still basking in the release, seeing five-digit 24-hour concurrent player numbers daily still.

It's only been a few months since the release, and though the numbers have fallen off from the multi-million player peak, it's still looking great for the team. We decided to check it out in our latest video, utilising a Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED monitor at 5120x1440 resolution.

Now, Black Myth: Wukong isn't supported natively at 32:9 resolution, so additional measures are needed to get it to work the way we did in the video. It's a shame that AAA developers still neglect native implementations of ultrawide and wider resolutions, though it comes as no surprise, considering the results of the latest Steam Hardware Survey of March 2025.

Primary Display Resolution is still sitting at 1920x1080p with a strong dominance in the market, with 56% of users who partook in the survey utilising this resolution. Meanwhile, super ultrawide (32:9) is still just 0.37%, while 21:9 resolutions are still taking a small market share (2560x1080 at 0.85% and 3440x1440 at 2.75%).

The amount of ultrawide or wider users isn't insignificant, and it saw a steady growth on Steam. Stronger cards capable of handling higher resolutions are coming into the market and becoming more affordable, which is a positive sign for the growing ultrawide sphere.
