Celebrate Terraria’s 14th Anniversary With a New Beta Branch Chock-Full of Nostalgia!

Celebrate Terraria’s 14th Anniversary With a New Beta Branch Chock-Full of Nostalgia!

It's jarring to see the over a million reviews that Terraria has on Steam and the whopping 97% Overwhelmingly Positive score, but it isn't surprising. Re-Logic, the developer and publisher, is possibly one of the most passionate developers, as the game is still receiving love to this day!

In their latest Steam post, they thank their community in a heartwarming message, celebrating the whopping 14 years since the release of the massive game:

"Fourteen years ago today, a little game called Terraria launched on Steam, and the rest is history. Since that time, over 64 million Terrarians across the globe have accepted the challenge to traverse the dangerous biomes of Terraria in search of fortune, glory, and the defeat of the nefarious Moon Lord. To say we appreciate each and every one of you would be the understatement of all time. Quite simply, your support is what keeps Terraria alive, vibrant, and growing. Here's to many more years of Terraria!"

In addition to that, a new "Retro Terraria" branch was announced: Lunacy! This will let players experience the first appearance of the Moon Lord.

For those who don't know, these beta branches take the game back to previous states so the community can experience the game as it was back then — think something like World of Warcraft Classic. To avoid problems, they have their separate save files, too, so there's no reason to worry about losing progress.

If you'd like to try Lunacy! or any of the others, go to Terraria and right-click it on Steam, then go to Properties, and then Betas; they should be available in the Beta Participation drop-down menu

Happy 14th anniversary to Terraria
