Mavericks: Proving Grounds Attempts a 400-Player Battle Royale
With the recent craze of popular battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG, developers are spontaneously allocating their resources into releasing similar titles. Sometimes this results in simply adding a new game mode for an already existing game, but many studios are committed to releasing full-fledged projects in the genre.
Mavericks: Proving Grounds is raising the stakes as a 400-player multiplayer survival game that will aim for a realistic military approach similar to that of PUBG. Throwing 400 players into a single match will increase the prestige behind a first-place victory and put combat on a massive scale. The teaser trailer above does not show gameplay, or anything more than a forest cinematic for that matter, yet the potential behind Mavericks: Proving Grounds is immense. Optimization, lifelike graphics, and reasonable matchmaking wait times all need to be considered for a game of this caliber.
More information on Mavericks: Proving Grounds will be released at GDC this year, so stay tuned.
