PaperKlay Receives Official Release Date Announcement in New Trailer

Platformers are a strange genre in the industry, where there is simultaneously an overabundance of them and also not enough that feature high-quality gameplay like some of Nintendo's Mario greats. The genre saturation makes it an inhospitable environment for developers, but a great title rears its head from time to time.

This is where WhyKev's PaperKlay comes into question: calling back to classic platformers of old, players take control of the cleverly named Chick & Nugget to engage in a paper-and-cardboard world. Its handmade visuals and aesthetics are a charming and different pace from 3D graphics, giving it a distinctive look against the competition.

In the latest trailer on the official YouTube channel of the developer, PaperKlay received an official launch date, giving us a first look at what the gameplay and world will look like. Showing off its full voice-acted cast and the charming music from composer Kirkhope & Melin (from Banjo-Kazooie and Yooka-Laylee), it's a whimsical show of what fun is to come.

PaperKlay's official launch isn't far away, either: you can expect to take control of Chick & Nugget on the 27th of May 2025.
