PlayStation and Dreamcast Classics Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 Return on GOG
Whilst the turn of the millennium saw a magnificent new franchise arrive from Capcom in the form of the seminal Resident Evil, there was another game from the same team which sometimes get overlooked in comparison to the behemoth size of that Franchise. I'm talking, of course, about the Dino Crisis games. These action titles swapped out zombies for dinosaurs, in a manner not entirely dissimilar to their cousin, but with a bit more of a Jurassic Park style twist. If you hanker after those days, or you've never played the games and you want to see what all the fuss is about, GOG has your back with a re-release on their storefront.
As part of the GOG Game Preservation project, these previously-loved titles are getting a modern overhaul. As well as the mandatory compatibility with modern PCs, there are higher resolutions, anti-aliasing features, and a gamma correction option. With various save game bug fixes applied and quality of life improvements, it's the next best thing to procuring an an original PS1 or late 90s PC, and probably a lot less frustrating trying to get the config just right or find a TV that still has a SCART socket on the back.
Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 are both available at £8.99 each on the GOG store now, and launch alongside a revamped version of the company's old wishlist feature, dubbed the "GOG Dreamlist". The Polish storefront is hoping that between its successful releases and this list, that more companies will start allowing old titles to be given these modern licks of paint. With the Video Game History Foundation citing 87% of games released before 2010 being unavailable right now, it's arguably a very important goal.
