PSN Store Shutting Down on PSP
Anybody still desperately hoping to see the PSP make a triumphant comeback was dealt a serious blow with the announcement that the PSN store on Sony's debut mobile console is being shut down. The console first gained access to the service back in March 2007 but sadly it won't make it to a ten year anniversary as the service is shutting down on the 31st March this year.
Sony announced the closure on their official twitter account:
Update: Native PSP store to close on 3/31. Content purchases still accessible at https://t.co/luJeIk6YxT. More info: https://t.co/vBJvdJR1pG
— PlayStation (@PlayStation) 29 February 2016
If users are playing games with in-game purchases they will still be able to waste their hard-earned money on virtual addons, and anyone who has purchased content previously will still be able to re-download it. The web based store will also still be accessible so, for now at least, PSP users will be able to visit that and buy content, then download it via their PSP, but browsing and purchasing straight from the device will no longer be available as of the end of this month. So long PSN, and thanks for all the fish.
