Sony PlayStation Celebrates 20 Years of God of War With the Story of Kratos Trailer

It's officially been 20 years since the God of War franchise released. Beginning all the way back in 2005 for PlayStation 2, players took on the mantle of god-killer Kratos in a story that would continue strong even 20 years later.

To celebrate this monumental anniversary milestone, PlayStation shared the trailer "A Tribute to Kratos", looking back on his actions throughout all of the titles and culminating in the events occurring in God of War Ragnarök. The trailer shows his entire history, from beginning in the Greek pantheon to his actions partaking throughout the Nordic realm and even beyond, with the last free DLC Valhalla, expanding on the narrative.

The trailer is a heartfelt thank-you from Sony Santa Monica to all fans who have joined in on the journey, from those who began years prior to those who joined on the successful reboot that became the award-winning God of War franchise. It's four minutes of pure bliss to longtime fans and those familiar with the history of Kratos, and a great teaser to what's to come, becoming the only tangible thing from numerous rumours about remakes and pantheons and gods that Kratos may or may not slay in the next entry.

Accruing over a million viewers in just a day, the positive reception to this trailer is strong. Fans are begging for a recreation of the Greek Trilogy, and many are looking forward to learn even more about what will be next for Kratos' journey and where the story might culminate.
