The Wait is Over: Monster Hunter Wilds Officially Releases

It was back in the 30th of June 2022 when players managed to jump into the last bit of content that we had for the CAPCOM-led Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the DLC for the semi-smaller-scale Monster Hunter title that took it to arcade roots. Three years have since passed, and after much hype and excitement from the community, it's finally time to jump back into the hunt.

Monster Hunter Wilds invites players to explore the Forgotten Lands, a place believed to not be inhabited, as you set off on an adventure across the unique, open-area landscape to hunt for monsters and fight against the White Wraith. With more focus on its narrative and reminiscent of Monster Hunter: World, this is a new step forward for the experience.

As the newest title in the gargantuan Monster Hunter franchise, players can expect to head out into a new land to fight against foes. This comes with a fair share of large-scale bosses, new mechanics, additional weapons, and more.

A fair few changes are coming to keep players engaged from veterans to newcomers of the franchise. Here are some of the key things available in Monster Hunter Wilds:

  • 14 weapons to choose from, including blunt-force attacks to inflict stun and slicing damage for severing parts
  • The capability to change between two weapon types on the hunt
  • New dynamic weather with changes to the open-world map
  • New and old monsters with returning kits and new additions
  • Reworked skill systems
  • Mounting monsters during battle
  • A large narrative spanning dozens of hours to unravel the secrets of the new lands
  • Much more

It is no surprise that Monster Hunter Wilds is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year, though heavy competition is still afoot, and 2025 isn't off to a shabby start, either, with the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 having come and gone.

Monster Hunter Wilds is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam for £59.99.
