Throwback FPS Ion Maiden Coming to Console
3D Realms, the iconic studio behind Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior are going back to what they do best and offer you players the perfect 90’s throwback with Ion Maiden. Now, working in partnership with PC and console publisher 1C Entertainment (Men of War, Kings Bounty and more) to bring Ion Maiden to PS4, Xbox One and Switch in Q2 2019.
With the release already available on Steam as part of Early Access, with the announce of a console version, console players to get experience the modern classic too. While Ion Maiden is retro in vision and is even built on the same engine powering Duke Nukem 3D, Blood and Shadow Warrior, it’s far from a full retro experience. Old meets new as Ion Maiden will feature higher-fidelity, modern physics and interactivity, full widescreen support, controller support and auto-saves and cloud saving.
For those not familiar to Ion Maiden aside from being a chaotic retro throwback FPS. Ion Maiden sees player follow Shelly in a prequel to 2016’s Bombshell to shoot, blow-up and wreak havoc to take down transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel.
If that’s something that gets your blood pumped and you can’t wait for a console release, then why not check out the Early Access Steam release here.
Lastly, it doesn’t end with Ion Maiden as on top of the publishing deal, 1C Entertainment is also working with 3D Realms to bring and unannounced FPS Based on the Original Quake Engine as well.
