When Does Grand Theft Auto VI Release and for Which Platforms?
Rockstar's behemoth launch of Grand Theft Auto VI is leaving players guessing, as new information comes and goes. While the industry awaits its launch, with players at the edge of their seats for the opportunity to jump into Vice City and developers and publishers doing their best to avoid its launch at all costs, Rockstar has the industry in their palm.
Though it's been many years since the latest Grand Theft Auto launch with the fifth entry into the franchise (12 years, now), so many are still eager to jump into the action and revisit a series that has become synonymous with the industry. While we were expecting the launch for the follow-up gargantuan Grand Theft Auto VI to be sometime in Fall 2025, that time window has unfortunately been entirely dismissed; on the bright side, it offered us a look at an official release date, not a release window.
Grand Theft Auto VI was delayed until the 26th of May 2026, which is just over a year from the time of publishing. While it's been disheartening news, overwhelming support has come from the community, who is excited to see a polished launch for the massive title that'll be releasing at that time, and hopefully an adventure to last another decade while we wait for Grand Theft Auto VII.
While players continue to hold out hope for a possible Steam or Rockstar Launcher announcement for a PC release of the game, that's already been confirmed not to be the case. Instead, Grand Theft Auto VI will only be releasing on consoles next year, specifically for the Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation 5.
While a PC hasn't been announced, speculation has it that it might see a 2027 release date, setting Vice City from computers far, far into the future of the industry.
