Breakout Is Back and Bigger Than Ever in Atari's Latest Announced Title: Breakout Beyond

Atari's ever-prominent arcade titles are back once again, bringing to players a re-imagined version of the retro Breakout. Developed by Choice Provisions, the studio behind BIT.TRIP, Breakout Beyond is a reimagining of the series, enabling players to enjoy the classic with modernised gameplay and a modern look.

Breakout Beyond has been adorned with all-new neon look and a perspective that'll be wholly unique to players — instead of breaking your way through the top, navigate horizontal levels full of bricks to break. This also comes with new power-ups and hectic gameplay.

In this new title, you'll also be able to play with your friends to challenge the massive amounts of levels that you'll face. Each player takes control of a unique paddle, preventing the balls from leaving through the back and losing your points!

The key features to Breakout Beyond are:

• All-new modernised look, filled with neon lights and colours sure to keep you engaged
• A horizontal map, as opposed to the vertical map that classic Breakout players will be used to
• 72 levels to complete, filled with brick-breaking tests of skill
• Procedural audio and visual effects that ramps up as your combo intensifies
• Solo and co-op gameplay, letting you experience the whole game alone or with a friend

Breakout Beyondis set to release sometime in 2025, with no narrower release date yet given by Atari. However, we do know that the modernised experience will be launching on Windows PC via Steam, the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Atari VCS.
