Everything You Need to Know About League of Legends Season 2: Spirit Blossom Beyond Changes to Summoner's Rift
As the second season of the year (with three total), the Spirit Blossom Beyond update is going to be Riot Games' way to ensure that they are changing some of the mechanics that haven't been working rather than making major changes to the Summoner's Rift. As such, there won't be new, game-changing additions like the release of Atakhan, but instead tweaks to the systems that have been placed to ensure that they are at their best.
Beginning down this route, Riot Games is trying to address the issues focused on the objective overload that the game has been struggling with for quite some time. With numerous raid bosses throughout the game, minor objectives to contest over, alongside your typical grouping and ganks, it's become a lot for players to keep in mind and caused a snowball-heavy meta for those who can get the objective control faster.
There are a few changes meant to address this:
- Ruined Atakhan is being removed in favour of Thornbound Atakhan, while also changing his rewards to fit the new Spirit Blossom season while still honouring Welcome to Noxus
- Void Grubs are spawning a single time later in the game
- Rift Herald is spawning in 15 minutes and will be harder to fight
These changes are meant to ensure that the gameplay isn't so snowball-heavy before the 20-minute point of the game, giving players the opportunity to recover a losing match as well. Major objectives weren't the only things looked at throughout this update, however.
The bounty system is receiving a bit of an update to ensure that it favours the team that is behind, giving them the opportunity to catch up.This should make the bounties feel fairer to the losing team and keep it more accurate to the way it should be working.
Also focused mostly for the Summoner's Rift is changes coming to systems for soft-inting. A new detection mechanism will be in place to ensure that it is keeping an eye on players who aren't actively participating, and the Jungler and Support roles will receive the Smite summoner spell and the World Atlas starter item by default, ensuring that everyone is abiding by their roles.
Aside from the above, Vanguard LP refunds has brought in over 700,000 LP to over 30,000 unique players, ensuring that cheaters are being caught and matches are being as fair as possible. Additional to cheater detection and anti-grief will be the implementation of letting you see the name of the user who received punishment when you get report feedback.
Of course, we'd be remiss not to mention the changes to the Summoner's Rift map! Say goodbye to Noxus red and grey and hello to Spirit Blossom! Alongside this, a new UI will be introduced for those who perish, doing away with the grey screen and bringing in new unique lines.
If you're excited about Spirit Blossom, you'll be able to partake in the 30th of April 2025!
