What's Coming to Trash Goblin's Second-To-Last Update Before Launch?
Trash Goblin is a wholesome and cosy shopkeeper game developed and published by Spilt Milk Studios Ltd. Offering a relaxing, pressure-free experience where players are invited to uncover and clean a slew of trinkets before upcycling them and selling them to their customers. With the money made, the shop can then be upgraded or customised, and new tools can be purchased to make the job even smoother! If you'd like to learn more about it, we've got a preview; you can read it here!
At the moment, every customer can ask for every trinket in any of their states (upcycled, clean, etc.). While Spilt Milk Studio won't be changing this, they have added a new system that generates more specific requests. Now, NPCs will be able to ask for the following:
- A clean version (you'll have to wash it).
- Upcycled trinkets (you'll get to experiment by adding stuff to it).
- A specific trinket (a lid, jewellery...)
- A very specific item.
The developer hopes to also add the ability for NPCs to ask for a specific heritage (such as Goblin or Human), but this might have to wait until version 1.0, as there's still a lot of testing to be had.
The next feature is the display mats — a highly requested feature! These can be bought at the customer view, and players can set up trinkets however they please; if more space is needed, they'll also be able to be upgraded to be more spacious.
For those who struggle to find trinkets, there's a quality-of-life feature coming up: highlights! Now, by clicking the Quest Tracker, the item will be highlighted if the player owns it.
The next quality-of-life implementation is the tool rack — a handy UI element that will always hold the tools neatly in place. Don't worry about having to put it back, either, as putting them down automatically slots them into their spot in the tool rack.
Finally, more lizard customers will be available, and the gameplay has been polished to give a smoother experience when picking things up and moving them around.
This is all coming to the next update to the game — the second-to-last one before launch.
Trash Goblin is available right now on Steam's Early Access, and it will launch soon. The Stock N' Trade update is aimed to release on the 9th of April 2025!
